What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the work of making a business visible when people search for a service in a specific place, such as “family lawyer Rabat” or “dentist near me”. Google answers these searches with a map, a short list of business profiles and then the regular results.

Google names three factors that decide who appears there: relevance (how well your profile and website match the search), distance (how close you are to the person searching) and prominence (how well known and trusted your business is, through reviews, links and citations). You cannot change your distance, so local SEO works on relevance and prominence.

For a service business, local search is often where the best leads come from: the person searching already knows what they need and is close enough to call today.

Signs your business needs local SEO

  • You do not appear in the map results for your main service in your city.
  • Competitors with fewer reviews rank above you.
  • Your business name, address or phone number differ from one directory to another.
  • You serve several cities but have one generic service page.
  • Calls and bookings from Google have slowed down.

What local SEO work includes

Five pieces of work, done in the order that brings results fastest.

  1. Google Business Profile optimization

I complete and correct your profile: primary and secondary categories, services, service areas, opening hours, photos and description, so Google knows exactly what you offer and where.

  2. Citation cleanup & consistency

Your business name, address and phone number (NAP) must match on every directory and map. I find and fix the differences that confuse Google and customers.

  3. Local landing page strategy

Each important service and city gets its own useful page with local details, proof and a clear call to action, linked from your profile and menus.

  4. Review management framework

A simple routine for asking happy clients for reviews and replying to every review, because the number, rating and freshness of reviews all feed prominence.

  5. Local Map Pack visibility improvement

I track your positions in the map results for your main searches and adjust the profile, pages and citations until you climb.

How local SEO works, step by step

  1. Local audit

I check your Google Business Profile, your local rankings and how your name, address and phone appear online.

  2. Fix the foundations

Profile, categories, a useful page for each city and service, and consistent citations.

  3. Grow and measure

A plan for reviews and local links, with calls and leads from Google tracked.

Local SEO vs. traditional SEO

Traditional SEO competes for broad searches with no place in them, often against national websites. Local SEO competes for searches with a place, where your Google Business Profile, reviews and citations matter as much as your website.

Most service businesses need both: local SEO to win nearby customers, and a technically sound website so the service pages linked from the profile can rank and convert.

Questions and answers

How long does local SEO take to show results?
Fixes to your profile and citations can show in the map results within weeks. New pages and reviews build up over months. The pace depends on your city and your competition.
Do I need a website for local SEO?
A Google Business Profile can rank on its own, but a website with a page for each service and city gives Google more reasons to trust you and gives visitors a place to convert.
How do reviews affect local rankings?
Reviews are part of prominence. The number of reviews, the rating, how recent they are and whether you reply all help Google and customers trust your business.
Can you help if I serve several cities?
Yes. Each city and service combination usually needs its own useful page, linked from your profile and your main service pages.
How much does local SEO cost?
Local SEO starts at $800 a month, or 6,000 MAD a month for businesses in Morocco. The exact price depends on how many locations and services you have. You get a fixed quote after the free 15-minute call, before any work starts.
Do you work with businesses in Morocco?
Yes. I am based in Morocco, work remotely, and work with businesses in Morocco, the UK and the U.S.
